MCA Master 200 & 500 Prep for Oral Exam

The MCA Master 200 course allows successful students to skipper any vessel less than 200gt, including work boat and wind farm support vessels, of a distance up to 150NM from a ‘safe haven’. The MCA Master 500 follows on from the MCA Master 200, it is more in depth and allows successful students to skipper vessels up to 500gt.

This course is a progression from the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore/Ocean qualification, candidates must have acceptance of a Notice of Eligibility (NOE) before applying for the exam.

The Master 200 Certificate of Competence (CoC) can be limited or unlimited. Limited allows operation of up to 150 nautical miles (NM) from a Safe Haven and Unlimited allows worldwide use.

Prerequisites

Requirements for Master 200 Oral Exam

Minimum age of 18
You must have completed 6 months’ seagoing service while holding an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or IYT Master of Yachts Limited certificate
Hold a valid ENG1 Medical
RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence (Commercial Endorsed)
RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal/Offshore Shorebased Certificate
STCW Basic Safety Training Modules – Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention (FPFF), Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR), Elementary First Aid (EFA) and Personal Survival Techniques (PST), Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA)
A GMDSS Restricted Operator’s Certificate (ROC) or General Operators Certificate (GOC)
HELM Operational Certificate (Human Element Leadership & Management)
Completed your NOE (Notice of Eligibility)
